Take payments

Bohdan's boxing gym has always taken cash at the desk. Now newcomers want to buy a pass on their phones at night, while his regulars still pay cash. He connects a card provider, keeps cash beside it, and tests it before a single client pays.

  1. Open Set up → Payments. The row says where you stand, such as Cash at the desk, Bank transfer, Stripe · connected, Monobank · no key saved yet or Nothing can be sold yet. A provider chosen without its key is not ready: clients cannot pay with it until the key is saved.

  2. Choose under Who takes the money. Only the ways offered in your studio’s country are listed:

    • Cash at the desk — clients reserve a pass in the app and pay you in person.
    • Bank transfer — clients reserve in the app and pay by transfer; the app tells them you will send the details.
    • Monobank or Stripe — clients pay by card on the provider’s page, into your own account there, and the pass arrives when the payment goes through.
    • Test checkout, if your Grupy shows it, charges nothing: an Approve button stands in for the bank. It is for trying the app, never for real clients.

    A short guide under your choice says what to do next.

  3. Card: paste your key. For Monobank, the Monobank merchant token from your business account with plata by mono switched on. For Stripe, the Stripe secret key (it starts with sk_; try the test key first). Keys are never shown again; leave the field blank to keep the one you have.

  4. Tap Test connection. Grupy asks the provider whether the key works, whose account it is, test or live, and whether your currency can be charged. For Stripe, tap Add it to my Stripe account if Stripe does not yet know where to report payments, or add the endpoint yourself and paste its Stripe webhook signing secret. Aim for All set. Save to start taking card payments. Until then Save waits: Test the connection before saving.

  5. Also take cash at the studio. Beside a card provider or bank transfer, switch this on so clients can also pay you in person.

  6. Tap Save.

  • The pass is reserved with one class on it, to book straight away. The rest arrives when you mark it paid: Mark paid on Today, or in Money. See Money: payments, owed, refunds.
  • Clients see how you are paid on your studio page, under Good to know → Paying.

When something goes wrong between your studio and the card provider, it shows in red at the top of Payments, and on Today under Needs you with Open payment settings. Each line says what happened and how many times:

  • the provider refused to open a payment, or could not be reached when a client tried to pay;
  • it cannot charge in your studio’s currency;
  • a payment was reported with no signing secret to check it, or failed the signature check — the secret is probably wrong;
  • the provider would not say what happened to a payment.

Check the keys, tap Test connection and save. The warning clears itself once payments go through again, or when you save new keys or a new provider.
