Yoga

Yoga styles you will find on studio timetables — from calm Hatha and slow Yin to flowing Vinyasa, the set series of Ashtanga, Kundalini and heated classes.

  • Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is the physical side of yoga: postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and relaxation.

  • Vinyasa yoga

Vinyasa yoga is a flowing style in which you move from one posture to the next in time with your breath — one movement on the inhale, the next on the exhale.

  • Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga (in full, Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga) is a dynamic style with a set sequence: the same postures in the same order every time, joined by breath and flowing transitions.

  • Yin yoga

Yin yoga is a slow, quiet style in which you hold mostly seated and lying postures for several minutes each, with the muscles as relaxed as possible.

  • Kundalini yoga

Kundalini yoga combines breathing exercises, simple repeated movements, postures, the chanting of mantras and meditation.

  • Hot yoga

Hot yoga is yoga practised in a heated room, often with raised humidity.
